Don't Swallow The Propaganda !

Old Mother Hubbard
went to the cupboard

to give her poor dog a bone,
but when she got there,
the cupboard was bare,

SO

her grandchildren and children, her husband, herself, AND the dog, had none.

BUT

"Don't Worry, Be Happy" - that you live in America.
Old Mother Hubbard and her family weren't HUNGRY, you see!
'twas merely

" FOOD INSECURITY!"

The Parade section in this last Sunday's paper included an article about the "food insecurity" that is endured every day by 13.9 million American children. "Food insecurity" was defined as, "lacking enough nutrition to lead a healthy life". Since children don't live on their own, every "food insecure" child lives with a least one adult, some with two, and the households of many include siblings, and members of their extended families (like grandparents). Do the math and don't forget to add in the millions of "food insecure" senior citizens and members of the disabled community.

The term "FOOD INSECURITY" is representative of the "soft propaganda" that is being used by the current administration to obscure the the truth. Like the filming of an aging star through gauze, "soft propaganda" employs fuzzy semantics to "soften" the meanings and blur the imagery of words.

AMERICANS ARE HUNGRY............not

"insecure" about the lack of food to eat! Bluntly and starkly, Americans of all ages and all walks of life are going HUNGRY, right now, in the richest country on Earth!

HUNGER, the noun, is defined as 1) a....a strong desire or need for food. b.... The discomfort, weakness, or pain caused by a prolonged lack of food. 2) A strong desire or craving.

HUNGERED, HUNGERING, or HUNGERS, the verb, intr., is defined as 1) To have a need or desire for food. 2) To have a strong desire or craving.

Years ago when my eldest son was about seven years old, I was a single mom waitress. Life was hard and we often didn't have enough to live on or to eat. I was going to work one night and all that was left in the cupboard was a can of creamed corn. I opened it and split it in half to feed both of us because my son refused to eat if I didn't.

It was my hope that night to bring home at least ten dollars in tips. Two bucks for my VW bug's hungry gas tank, some money for the babysitter, and enough to buy milk, some cheese, and a loaf of cheap bread. Fortunately, the chefs at the restuatant knew that several of us didn't have enough to eat, and would often put cooking mistakes, rolls, and leftovers aside for us to take home. Sometimes, because of their kindness, we ate a little better.

We were poor enough that I didn't buy luxuries like paper napkins, plastic baggies, or aluminum foil. Trying to pay for something like school pictures was a real struggle. I used to wash foil and baggies if I had any at all, and reuse them. I only stopped doing this several years ago. We used to get sick more often because I couldn't afford to provide the correct kind of nutrition.

Don't swallow the "Soft Propanda" that is dreamed up by people like Karl Rove to keep the public from truthful realization. "Soft Propaganda" is like "Soft Porn", propaganda is still a hard manipulation of the truth and porn is still a hard distortion of sex.

Millions of people in this country have a strong need and desire for food. They are weakened and get sick more easily, and are definitely made uncomfortable by the lack of nourishment. Sleep is also denied because the experience of HUNGER often includes craving food in one's dreams. Bush's compassion has left 45.8 million Americans without medical insurance as well. Hungry and sick, these Americans join the thousands of other victims of the War in Iraq.

I volunteer as a tutor at a school where some children can barely wait for the free lunch that may be their only meal of the day. They are often too tired to learn and frequently sick. Gee, the effects of "FOOD INSECURITY" are the same as the effects of HUNGER!

The American People Cannot Eat Bullets And Bombs!

Feed Americans - Screw The War

IMPEACH Bush and Cheney!

And please do whatever you can to help your fellow citizens

El Shrubbo's peers never had it so good, and his worshippers will be praising their Lord with the last breaths from their starving bodies.

The Chimperor doesn't have much incentive to change his behavior.

I agree, Bush and company won't change their selfish, shameful, indifferent behavior....if anything it will only get worse as their lust for power becomes more manic. I think we have to change their behavior for them and help our fellow citizens at the same time.

"Food insecurity?" This from the outfit (the Right) that sneers at political correctness?

Now, granted I hate political correctness myself, but the irony--that the Right would appropriate the Left's tactic--doesn't fail to amuse.

If hungry people can be amusing--not--that is.

George W. usually goes in for black and white truths like say good vs. evil,. but when describing hungry Americans they are only a little "food insecure". You know, most of those lazy people expect to eat steak like Bush's corporare pals do. Can't have that so....they fuzzied up a politically correct term to soften HUNGER.

What a moronic piece of logic... "people are hungry so impeach Bush?!"

So... those same impoverished Americans weren't hungry when 'Slick Willy' was in the Oval Office getting BJs??? Everything is Bush's fault?

[Liberal Logic=ON]
It rained today on my newly washed car... damn that President Bush!

My computer got a virus!! Why can't Bush do anything right?!

Oh, they're cancelling 'West Wing!!' Damn that Bush-guy!
[Liberal Logic=OFF]

I guess you'd trade security for welfare increases... and maybe you're right. After all, the 300+ children killed on 9/11 aren't hungry.
