Alito LIED...Or Suffers From DEMENTIA

Sam Alito lied this morning during his Supreme Court confirmation hearing. He either lied or is unfit to serve as a lawyer or as a judge due to an early onset of dementia.

Mr. Alito, it seems, cannot recall being a member (a mere twenty years ago) of the "Concerned Alumni of Princeton University". The Concerned Alumni of Princeton, or CAP, were a group of elitist Princeton Alumni who were angered that the university had begun to accept women and minority applicants. Mr. Alito must have believed himself to be very superior indeed to have associated with such a discriminatory group; a group that existed to deny educational opportunities to others based on sex and race.

Nor can Alito recall why he would have listed his membership in the alumni group in a 1985 job application letter in which he was seeking a Reagan administration appointment. Was he trying to prove himself a conservative worthy of Reagan conservatives? Was it manipulation calculated to win the appointment for himself. Why would he have listed his membership in CAP if it was not important to him. The job application letter still exists and I am sure that somewhere there are canceled checks for membership fees.

I am one month younger that Sam Alito. Twenty years ago I was thirty-five years of age just like he was. I can remember all of the organizations that I belonged to and what my values were. I would not have joined an organization or permitted my name to be used in affiliation with any group that did not reflect my values. Alito as a lawyer at the age of 35 would not have tossed his name about without careful consideration, yet he is asking us to believe that he was terribly irresponsible at that time and has only a faint memory of his actions. Lawyers and judges cannot function without the ability to recall the most minute details.

If Sam Alito cannot remember being a member of the Concerned Alumni of Princeton perhaps he is suffering from the deterioration of his intellectual faculties (memory, concentration, and judgement). If it is "dementia" that is causing him to loose recollection, he is not at all medically fit to serve on the Supreme Court!

It is likely that Mr. Alito has chosen to lie by pretending not to remember and that this was a strategy worked out between himself and advisors (Karl Rove) from the Bush administration. It was probably decided that an out and out lie would discourage further exploration of his past affiliation with such a group. It was hoped that the ramifications of such an association would be passed over and forgotten. The choice to lie is not surprising considering that lying is a trait endemic to the Bush Administration who nominated Alito to serve on the Supreme Court.

There is one other possible explanation for Mr. Alito's forgetfulness. That he has substance abuse problems and was a secret drunk or drug addict at the time. You know like the "lost weekend".

The matter of nominee Alito's past involvement with the "Concerned Alumni of Princeton" and the matter of his apparent memory loss both need to be addressed further. Mr. Alito is either medically impaired or has some very serious character flaws. We do not need an ambitious, manipulative, dishonest man serving on the Supreme Court. We need a moderate who is honest, open, and has respect for the American people.

..Sam Alito simply won't do!

Interesting observation. It will be more interesting to see if this goes any further.

Hi,

Becca gave me your blog address last year when she was at Becki's wedding. I like what you are writing. I created a blog awhile ago but never forced myself to write. That has changed with my newest class, Advanced Writing. We had to create a blog and use it. :-) Stop by when you can. Janice

I am so glad that you wrote about this. I watched as Alito was attempting to address this issue. I am concerned that the media has not seemed to pick up on this. This seems quite monumental to me. Why isn't there more of an outcry???? I know these hearings are a bit boring to watch but surely SOMEBODY in the press caught this....no??? How can the media be made to cover this?

Allito has made it clear-he suffers from the same opposition to American mores that the Chimperor does.

If we allow El Shrubbo to pack the SCOTUS with wingerbots, we're done. Allito must be opposed at every turn.

DEFIANT SYMMETRY...
It did go further....questions about Aliot's conservative bigotry made Martha Ann Alito snivel and cry. Gee, I guess being asked questions and being expect to give direct truthful answers is way too hard for either of the Alitos. He beats around the bush to avoid answering directly and she cries. How touching. Good thing they rehearsed with Lindsey Graham first.

JANICE...
Thanks for dropping in. I am writing because I, like you, am a grandmother and feel that we must speak out and fight against the destruction of American Democracy that is so central to the Bush adgenda. The Constitution is being destroyed daily by the neocon fascists who comprise the Bush administration. Our children's and grandchildren's futures are in jepordy.

I have been blogging for almost a year. January 26th will mark my one year anniversary and on that day I hope to post my 100th post. It will be a double milestone and I plan to celebrate! It is interesting that blogging is being used as a part of Advanced Writing....Good Luck!

AUNTIE...
Unfortunately the media has picked up on this but they have been giving play to the "Hearts and Flowers" version of the Alito hearings as srategized by the White House. Martha Ann cried, GEEZ!!!!

The American media are doing a real SHITTY job. Most American journalists would be just as comfortable working for news agencies in the Russian Free Press.
Let's hear it for the party line!!!!

Sam Alito is not fit for the Supreme Court. He is a right-wing ideologue whose goal is to morph the "Constitution" into a document that will impose both corporate neoconservative values and the will of religious extremists on free American people. That is why he is being so evasive. He is not an honest or a trustworthy man and it shows on his face!

JOLLYROGER...
If the courts are stacked and narrow views and values are imposed on the citizenry we may well end up with another civil war in America. That is why we must NOT give up the fight.

The Framers of the Constitution embedded a system of "checks and balances" in the document and made sure that the "separation of church and state" were basic to the establistment of American Democracy. They did this to protect "free people" forever from tyrants and theocrats.

Alito needs to be asked directly if he can rule WITHOUT imposing his RELIGIOUS BELIEFS on others. I suspect that he cannot divorce himself from his religion long enough to make a decision...And we already know that he favors coporatism.

The actual title of the class is Advanced Writing - Cultivating your style. This is my style, and I am so comfortable with technology that I had to take it and run.

Ah, I miss the beauty that you drive in every day! Not that there aren't beautiful things everywhere, but the hills! The winding roads! The smell of sage at night. Sigh... good memories. I heard that my old house is still there, though.

I had your daughter's email address, but I lost it. I remembered the name ofyour blog. :-) She might have mine still...

And what was up with the sobbing wifey? A cute ploy to draw sympathy or is she that big a [nasty euphemism for female gentalia]?

Ye olde Ronald Reagan defense. "I can't seem to recall."

"Wingbots." Hee. Love it.

Mrs. Alito sobbing -- LOL. Maybe I'm missing something, but isn't it sexist that she gets so much media sympathy for crying during the hearings?

Imagine if things were turned around. Diane Feinstein's husband, or Barbara Boxer's husband, bursting into tears during a Senate hearing -- would they be greeted with sympathy, or would they be laughed out of the building?

I, unlike you, am not good with technology. I usually manage to get into some kind of mess with the computer but I am gradually improving. I did not even know how to type six or seven years ago.

It still does smell good, the sage, but not as strong because of the fire.
I'll ask if Beatlechick still has your e-mail.

Sobbing wifey was playing a role which has, at times, proven to be an effective manipulation in that, she gets what she wants. Yeah, I agree, since the Alitos rehearsed with some of the Republicans on the committee, such an emotional manuever was probably a play for sympathy to soften Sam Alito's cold, unsympathetic, and authoritarian image. Geez, what a teary, blurry view of the nominee for The Supreme Court!!!!

Martha Ann is an embarrassment to all of us earthy, loving, hard working, no nonsense, intelligent, artistic, caring women who have been trying to improve life for ourselves, our daughters, and others. And she looked, on one of the days, like she was doing a Scarlett O'Hara wearing a ruffled blue plastic shower curtain.

Tearful and Tasteless Martha....What a shame!!!!

Tee hee hee. It would be funny if it wasn't so tragic. Now we choose a Supreme Court Justice because he has a non feminist wife.

"She's great that Martha Ann, she cries on cue! Those great big ol' tears just well and drip right down her pinched up, sad little face. Doesn't it jist kinda gitcha deep inside, doesn't it kinda make ya git all kinda choked-up. She's some kinda woman, all right! She knows how to make ya feel like a man by acting jist like a little baby girl! That man, Sam,... boy!....he must be sumpthin......."

Yep, it's sexist all right!

Boxer's and Feinstein's husbands are evidently grown-ups....I haven't seen them cry in public once!

p.s. Tom I enjoy reading what you write when I get there. You are always up on a lot of what's happening. I am also glad that you put up petitions that need attention.
