Tiny Bubbles - A "DISGUSTING" Variation
Laura "Stepford" Bush said that she was disgusted with the comments made by rapper Kanye West - "George Bush doesn't care about black people", the Rev. Al Sharpton who called Bush's slow response to the devastation of Katrina, "inexcusable", and Howard Dean who spoke of the "ugly truth" of racism and class in America. Well, I am disgusted with Laura Bush, her clan, and her ilk. The following is a "perfectly frank" variation of "Tiny Bubbles":
The Dishpan list of "BIG DISGUSTING" BUBBLES"
It is DISGUSTING that during a public relations attempt to "soften" your husband's out-of-touch indifference, your visit shut down the communications center, the food line, and the women's shower's at the Cajundome in Lafayette, LA for eight hours! You visited with a handful of "selected" refugees and commented on camera that, "This really doesn't look like what we're seeing on television" and "some things are working really, really well in Louisiana." But some things weren't going well, at all, in Louisiana, where at that very moment in New Orleans, hundreds of Katrina's victims were stranded without food, water, or medical care. Many of them died.
It is DISGUSTING that you dismissed the conditions of their poverty with an almost complacent kind of acceptance when you offered the following explanation:
"That's just the way it is. This is what happens when there's a natural disaster of this scope. The poorer people are usually in the neighborhoods that are the lowest or the most exposed or the most vulnerable. Their housing is the most vulnerable to natural disaster. And this is always what happens." Why do these conditions exist, Laura?
"One must question the values of a society that tolerates the kind of poverty that exists in the United States." - Andrew Young, 1996
"The problem of the great majority of the Afro-American poor is the problem of income inequality. In a land of extraordinary abundance, the top fifth greedily takes so much that the bottom fifth, even working two jobs, sinks deeper and deeper into poverty." - Orlando Patterson, 1997
Read this one, Laura. As a matter-of-fact read it to George......
"There is nothing new about poverty. What is new however, is that we now have the resources to get rid of it.
A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death." - Martin Luther King, Jr. 1967
The DIGUSTING words that fell from your mother-in-law's haughty thin-lipped mouth sickened good people the world over. Her suggestion that the relocation to Houston was "working very well" for the poor of New Orleans because they were "underpriviledged anyway" was as insensitive as it was shallow.
Scott McClellan's DISGUSTING excuse for the former First Lady's snooty "personal observation" was that she was merely commenting on remarks that were made by Katrina's victims themselves.
There are hundreds of Big Disgusting Bubbles that need popping but I will bring only one more to your attention in the body of this rant.
This one is DOUBLY DISGUSTING!............President George W. Bush has used Hurricane Katrina to move the citizens of the United States one step closer to the poverty that caused the Great Depression. On Sept. 8th, 2005 with an excutive order, he rescinded the requirements of the Davis-Bacon Act which insured that workers being paid with federal funds would be paid the prevailing wage. The workers in the Gulf Coast region, who have lost everything as a result of this hurricane, have now been denied the right to be paid the prevailing wage under the guise of "saving the federal government money"!!!!!! Corporations like Halliburton's KR&B and the SCI Corp's Kenyon International (of Funeralgate fame) will profit mightily by paying substandard wages
If the Bush Administration really wants to save money it needs to rescind the crony-based, no-bid contracts that have been handed to Halliburton, its subsidiary Kellog, Root, and Brown, and the SCI Corp pending investigations that demand full ACCOUNTABILITY. Billions of OUR dollars have been bilked by these "LOOTER" corporations for the WAR effort in Iraq. Contracts have been padded, fees multiplied, out-dated products delivered, and shoddy work is the norm.
The Gulf Region and the American tax payers have had enough! These companies should not be allowed to continue their pillaging at our expense. We might as well just toss our paychecks into the the stagnant toxic waters in New Orleans!
It is DISGUSTING that it is business as usual for the less than honest President of the United States.....just plain DISGUSTING!
Hey Laura, the term we used to describe people like you and your husband back in the 60's is once again most appropriate - PLASTIC

wow - and you haven't even gotten into Barbara Bush's comments yet! Your vitriol is a tonic!
MICHAEL....Her comments are there. Barbara Bush is mentioned as the "mother-in-law." Her comments made me sick. It is very apparent where son George "got his stuff."
Glad you liked my "tonic." If only it would eradicate the disease that has over-taken the White House!
The Impeach Bush Coalition is trying to provide the kind of high-strength tonic needed to remove the toxicity of the Chickenhawk of Crawford and the Stepford Tart.
http://impeachbushcoalition.blogspot.com/
Great post. What can you say about Laura (Dubya can sure pick 'em) and Barbara (the apple doesn't fall far from the tree).
And yeah, the Impeach Bush Coalition is definitely worth joining. We've gotta get that &^%$#! out of the White House.
Somewhere over at Crook and Liars is video where Laura refers to Katrina as Corrina, not once but twice.
It seems a harmless little slip of the tongue. But as someone commented, it's sort of like calling September 11th, September 6th.
Smidgen out of touch, eh?
Bang up job, my dear. How much does this administration have to screw up before the rest of America FINALLY wises up? I can't believe he's still in the upper 30s approval rating.
On a somewhat related note, is Laura Bush a robot?
nice job pointing out the obvious yet overlooked fact that these people are hopelessly out of touch with the average citizen...and even worse, they could care less.
it's time to end our Rip Van Winkle like apathy and take back our country from the corrupt po;itico's of every stripe.
JOLLYROGER and TOM...I have been looking into the Impeach Bush Coalition and will probably join ranks soon. Thanks for letting me know. The tech stuff (like getting the button)will take me longer as I am not that good at that stuff like you guys are. I can barely make a simple cell phone function. Still, I will slog thru and get it done somehow.
We need to get rid of Cheney, too!
OKLIBERAL...Heck, I'd like to see both Bush and Cheney forced to drink a cup of the toxic waters that they left all those people to drown in or wade thru.
Bush did not specify that the money supposedly saved by paying workers a pittance be returned to the taxpayers or channeled into relief efforts. Nope, Halliburton and the other no-bid mega corporations get to keep the change! This exposes yet another lie....."cutting the prevailing wage will save the federal government $$$$"...the reason Bush gave for rescinding the Davis-Bacon act. The sole purpose for the flourish of his little presidential pen was to pad the profits of the monster corporations. It seems a tad fascist to me!
Karl Rove, was laid low for a while with kidney stones and even had to be hospitalized....they say that the pain from kidney stones is as close as men will ever get to child birth......Karl has well earned this, his Karma.
PAT KIRBY...That made me laugh. The way I see it, Laura was terrified to be around all of "THOSE" people and was trying to keep her fears under control. Because whistling is considered vulgar for a "Lady" she had to hum a tune instead. She couldn't hum it out loud because that would have been rude so she hummed it in her head. Corrina, Corrina, where've you been so long?......and then someone asked her a question about the hurricane, and out her mouth jumped, "Corrina, Corrina". I just wonder whose version was bouncing around in her empty little head...Bob Will's, Blind Lemon Jefferson's, the Greatful Dead's, or Mississippi John Hurt's.
BRAD... Thanks.
Where've you been so long? I couldn't get through to your site. So glad you are back (if in fact, you were gone). Maybe it was a cosmic burp or something. Such things happen to me on the computer.
This administration is not done screwing up. Factor in the mess with the clean-up and rebuild the Gulf Coast (the contracts)....the poor will be sucked further into poverty by substandard wages and may be forced out of the rebuild by ruthless real estate speculation.
Add to that, Rumsfeld/Pentagon nuclear proliferation and a possible pre-emptive strike on Iran and......you see, they are not done at all......while everyone is distracted by the hurricane's aftermath and rightly so, the Bush Gang's destruction spreads like an out-of-control cancer.
Yes, Laura is a robot... she's a Stepford Wife!
KEN...I agree that they could care less. I think they also feel so empowered that they believe themselves to be untouchable and invincible. And, they are so out-of- touch that they don't perceive any of us that make up the other half of America, to be a threat to their entrenched power base. That belief alone weakens the grip of their empire.
We do have to end the apathy and some how turn it to activism. All of us have a big job before us to get this ruthless, parasitic, power-hungry administration out of
office.
We must join forces, keep writing, and expose the madmen every chance we get. The public is beginning to wake up. It just needs a Java jolt to GET it going and a hearty grassroots stew of facts and actions to KEEP it going.
Now this is an article to sink your teeth into. It good to see someone taking on Laura Bush and her out of touch comments.
Alas, yes, I had retired. But I can't stay away from voicing my displeasure with the current state of politics for too long, hence, I am back.
Did you know George Bush is the antichrist?! Visit http://www.bushisantichrist.com/ as soon as possible to learn about the heavily researched facts published from all the great info from groups like MoveOn.org and the ACLU!! ALL HAIL MOTHER RUSSIA!
