A Memorial to Fabricators, Fortune Hunters, and Fools

Part 1

The memorial, an open cesspool, is foul with the stench of putrid perfidy. Put to rest in the glistening subversive sludge are the fallen misleaders. Shards of misshapen metal contaminated with depleted uranium, bear the names of cowards, aristocrats, hegemonists, racists, manipulators, imperialists, war profiteers, religious and military zealots, and the other lying dregs of society who perpetuated the illegal war on Iraq. We must remember to dishonor the
the Bush Administration and its Congress on this day, so that Never Again, will their ilk be elected to abuse power in public office.

The inscription in blood on the twisted metal reads,

"Their Savage Souls Will Swirl Forever in This Eternal Sewage". Here fester the legacies of:

The "Presider-Decider" who rattled a sword edged with lies and started a war
The "Co-Presider" whose "Vices" have plunged the world into the depths of death and darkness
The Secretary of State whose diplomacy was limited to threats of armed, organized terror
The demented,
warlord wanna-be Secretary of Defense who touted torture as a tool "to win the hearts and minds" of the Presider's victims
The Presider's Strategist and Advisor, roving gas-bag Karl, who propagandized the "Big Lie" like a reincarnation of Dr. Paul Joseph Goebbels
The Attorney General who was appointed by the Presider to render the Constitution and the laws of our land into tools of totalitarian enforcement
And Congress, inclusive of all members of the House and the Senate who lined their pockets, turned their backs, and nodded a bandwagon, irresponsible consent to an illegal war.

*********************************************************
Part 2

The cycle of endless war and memorials to its victims, both military and civilian, needs to be broken like any cycle of abuse needs to be broken. The disruption of an abusive circuit requires vigorous scrutiny and constant viligance. The conditions that created and then enabled the the continuation of the destructive loop must not be allowed to reoccur. The abuse must be directly confronted and the abusers held publicly accountable. The surviving victims of abuse and their families must regain control over their lives. They must overcome the instinct to "follow" and become, instead, responsible, educated citizens. Only then, will they be their own "deciders".

The leadership of the United States - those elected to represent us temporarily - must be made to be responsible for their decisions and actions. We are in a cycle of perpetual war because members of the Excutive and Legislative branches of our government abandoned their moral and ethical standards in favor of misguided vengeance, dreams of imperialistic dominance, and the lure of unaccounted for "Fog of War" billions in financial profits. That Judicial branch is being brought, by appointment of radical judges, into this moral and ethical void, is further evidence of the abusive practices the current American leadership.

I propose that "We the People" enact a law that requires any elected official who votes to inflict military force on another country prove their comittment to such violent action by direct participation. The President, Vice President, Secretaries of State and Defense, Speaker of the House, Members of the House and Members of the Senate are all replaceable. Members of the American military are listed as "EXPENDABLE". We need to expand that listing to include our elected representatives.

War, especially the "undeclared variety", is an abhorent FAILURE of foreign policy. It is a dangerous and unforgiving drug whose "addicts" demand ever-increasing doses of its vicarious thrills and blood drenched corporate currency. Those who "vote" FOR aggressive armed conflict should shoulder the arms and and commence said conflict in PERSON regardless of age, gender, health, or prior military service...No exceptions.

If they can push a pen, they can pull a trigger. Even doddering old men can slop food on plates in the mess hall. Corporate whores and big-mouthed "bring 'em on" arm chair warriors can drive tanks and Humvees as well as some young kid, probably even better. And we know that women can fight, isn't that right, Hillary? Let our "representatives" wallow in the quagmire of their own creation until they are dead or there is resolution and restoration of life-sustaining peace.

When the officials who are elected to serve us (we do not serve them) are forced to own their votes, we will see the use of military force move from the premier "option" to the informed decision of "last resort". Responsible pro-war votes will require Congressman X and Senator Y to suit up and ship out along with any gung ho Presiders, Co-Presiders, their appointees, and corporate supporters. War would become for them the "up close and personal" experience that if survived, they would never be able to forget.

Instead of remembering our war dead, we should recall instead, the bastards who created the war that caused their deaths. Let's profile these personality types and keep them from ever gaining power over others in public office.

Andy Rooney offered the following eloquent words about Memorial Day;

"Remembering doesn't do the remembered any good, of course. It's for ourselves, the living. I wish we could dedicate Memorial Day, not to the memory of those who have died at war, but to the idea of saving the lives of the young people who are going to die in the future if we don't find some new way - some new religion maybe - that takes war out of our lives".

Excellent post. You're sure got our "leaders" dialed. Andy Rooney said that? Cool. I've always thought of him as just rambling on and on about toasters that don't work, and other everyday trivia. I'm glad he sees what we're up against.

TOM...
Glad you liked my post. Yeah, Andy Rooney said that and more. He is a WWII combat veteran who knows of what he speaks. He definately "sees" what we are up against.

My husband and I watched him deliver his beautifully worded message on 60 Minutes this last Sunday (it orginally aired in 2005) and were very moved. I quoted only his concluding papagraph in my blog the following day. I think that you would enjoy all of what he said. Here is the url - http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/05/26/60minutes/rooney/main697964.shtml
His piece is titled "A Memorial Day Worth Remembering". It is well worth the read!

Well, I see the worshipper wingnuts have nothing to bring to the table, as always.

(1) Vietnam was WRONG. Find me any liberal, anywhere, that will say otherwise. And I despise the dumbasses who try to ssay that the Chimperor's war is somehow "better" because not as many GIs have been killed yet. It is utter bullshit that even one GI has lost his or her life in yet another stupid war inistaited by yet another Texan with no combat experience in his past.

(2) Iraq had FUCK ALL to do with September 11. No matter how you worshippers want your Chimperor to somehow be exonerated for his massive screwup, this lie is so old even most 'cons don't bother with it anymore. The least you liars could do is update your lie to the latest version-we are bringing "Freedom and Democracy" to the people of Iraq!

Cowards, liars, and self-delusional. Franklin was right-the lot of you deserve neither Liberty nor security. Shame on you for stomping on a thought-provoking, beautifully written piece.

Glad you liked it. Some things just need to be said.

ANONYMOUS CONSERVATIVE...
I know about the dead from the Vietnam War. I served in the military here at Ft. Sam Houston during that conflict. No one supported LBJ and we did the best we could to end the war from within the ranks.

There is a newly released film that perhaps you should see which covers the GI anti-war movement during the Vietnam conflict. Visit the film's website for the screening locations and schedule. You can also view a trailor and read the history of the movement. Perhaps this will help you to understand more about the Vietnam conflict.

ANONY...The title of the above mentioned film is "Sir No Sir!".

VULTURE 6...might I say that you have choosen an apt name since you are picking over the same old carrion. However,I am impressed that you have interrogated each and every Iraqi father of a rape victim and found supporting evidence that they all have murdered their daughters.

JOLLYROGER...
You know sometimes I forget that LBJ and George W. both came from Texas although Bush and family emigrated to the big "T" from the eastern seaboard.

Other emigrants who adopted Texas as their "hail from state" - Karl Rove and Dick Cheney. Tom Delay is a native toxic Texan.

On the bright side and to balance things out a bit there are Texans like Jim Hightower, Molly Ivans, and the Dixie Chicks!

Wow, that's like, barely English. Love the ironic phrasing "stop fighting war." I guess capitalizing "terrorists" is supposed to make them scarier. Ooo. Shiver me timbers.

These men are the same ones who KILL THEIR DAUGHTERS FOR BEING RAPED!!! When in doubt, reach for vacant hyperbole and lots of exclamation points. (Big word, I know. Try the dictionary, sport.)
