Bush's Legacy - An Unforgivable, Unforgettable List
The fourth anniversary of the American War Against Iraq, inspired this sign (which I held at candlelight vigil on March 19th) and the following written piece.
We have begun the seventh year of the worst presidency in our nation's history and the fifth year of an unnecessary, war of choice. President, George W. Bush, continues to advance an agendum that subverts the Constitution, is destroying the country of Iraq, is squandering our treasure, annihilating our standing in the international community, and is the direct cause of close to a million deaths. Americans will have to endure the shame of his disastrous reign for generations to come.
It's a vexing wonder that President George W. Bush is concerned about HIS LEGACY !
LET'S HELP HIM BE REMEMBERED FOR ALL THAT HE HAS DONE!
1) Voters openly intimidated in Florida. Thousands of votes are not counted - chads, overseas votes discounted - boxes of votes found dumped in the swamps. Karl Rove arranged (all expenses paid) for Republican staff members and operatives to fly to Fla. from D.C. - they pretended to be an angry mob of Floridian voters while loudly demanding that the " recount be shut down". The Supreme Court for the first time in history, becomes the "decider". Instead of a do over vote or a recount, the Court crowns George W. Bush, President.
2) The Bush Administration withdrew from the treaty to establish an International Criminal Court - an action that stinks of Crimes Against Humanity - waging of preemptive wars, the use of torture, and secret prisons. The "quaint" Geneva Conventions rendered obsolute.
3) Bush and cronies declare global warming a non issue and abandon the Koyoto Treaty.
4) 1992 - then Defense Secretary Dick Cheney issued The Wolfowitz Doctrine written by neoconservative zionists, Paul Wolfowitz and I. Scooter Libby under the original title "Defense Policy Planning Guidance for the 1994-99 years". The Wolfowitz Doctrine provided the framework for American unilateralism and global domination. It promoted the use of regional preemptive war; especially in the Middle East and Southwest Aisa where preemptive strike could be used to enforce regime change and "preserve U.S. and Western access to the region's oil".
June, 2002 - The (radical) Wolfowitz Doctrine is renamed "The Bush Doctrine" and delivered as America's new security strategy in relation to foreign policy. The Bush Doctrine laid the foundation that enabled the neoconservative administration to advance the invasion of Iraq.
5) Clean Air Standards gutted.
6) The Patriot Act (dig the cute acronym "Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Approiate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001") - finally after years of trying the Republicans got it passed after 9/11 - the Constitution is sucessfully circumvented and the rights of American citizenry are compromised.
Most Americans don't know that The Patriot Act originated under President Ronald Reagan whose obsession with communism led him to include a "guilt by association law" within the document. It was rejected on Constitutional grounds by Congress. President George H. W. Bush, Dubya's pappy, picked up the ball and ran with it after he added provisions that allowed the use of secret evidence. Congress once again refused to pass such unconstitutional measures against the American people.
After the Oklahoma City Bombing the 1996 Antiterrorist Act was passed. It included a provision authored by Senator Orrin Hatch which severely altered and limited the right of habeas corpus.
2001 - The unconstitutional Antiterrorist Act, predecessor of the Patriot Act, was added to, strengthened, and ready to go by the Bush II neoconservatives who had taken over our nation's capitol. It was laid aside to await an opportunity to impose it America. Opportunity knocked on 9/11. The then active Antiterrorist Act had proven ineffective against the terrorists on 9/11 but the new, improved, good-to-go 342 page version slid through Congress like greased lightenin'. Most representatives voted for it WITHOUT READING IT .
"Appropriate Tools" are currently being used to spy on ordinary citizens and to harvest information.
7) The American War against Iraq... close to a million dead, thousands maimed, thousands more Americans and Iraqis (children, too) suffering from PTSD, Iraq's economy destroyed, Arab world turned against American-styled democracy and Americans, recruitment of terrorists increasing by the day, American surplus spent, billions stolen by corporate no-bid contractors, no accountablilty, trillions of dollars of American debt owned by Chinese....
8) Katrina! Katrina! Katrina!
9) Violence begats violence - America consumed by never-ending war while crime increases in the States - especially violent crime.
10) Public health threatened - Tainted Food incidents - Bush appointed corporate operatives, and cut agency staffs - farm, produce, and meat inspectors severely overburdoned and understaffed. Contaminated food sold to consumers.
11) Walter Reed! Walter Reed! Walter Reed!
12) Education increasingly priced out of reach for poor and working families ...
Only in America, the richest country in the world, does a bright young woman from West Virginia have to invade Iraq and get blown up in an ambush so she can pursue her dream of attending college to become an elementary school teacher, while a set of wealthy partying twins are guaranteed slots at leading universities.

Unfortunately, beyond shame, ordinary Americans will undoubtedly bear the brunt of the blowback that is headed this way. Not so the members of this administration and their religious and corporate sponsors. The neoconservative cabal whose arrogant and irresponsible plans have created this mess, will simply, like Halliburton, cut and run.

Your list is good, but it's kinda like riding a motorcycle real fast in the desert - you just hit the high spots.

Worst EVAH!
The current administration is the most pro-big-business in my memory, though Reagan began the trend. The Republican legislators in the lobby-led Congress were co-conspiritors in the effort to advantage the huge profits that came at the expense of the workers of America. The gap between rich and poor grew like a mountain. All accomplished through red ink.
That's quite a legacy (the post itself and the preceding comments). After reading all these milestones, I'm too numb to think of anything else at the moment.

Bush, the Bush Dynasty, and others of the same mind set and ilk are "Anti" anything that acknowledges the middle class or poor in America. They are "Anti" democracy, pro-feudalism elitists who "hate our freedom". The people of this country have been rendered to the level of medieval serfs. The majority of Americans work to feed big business and the war machine with their blood, sweat, and money.
The members of Congress represent themselves quite well while the Americans who elected them are left high and dry. They are spending our lives and money but not for us!
We have to change this. It's unacceptable! How? I don't know...we'll have to be creative!

I wrote this because every time I hear about Bush and his DAMN legacy it makes me sick! So many people dead - their lives stolen, the Constitution mangled, and we're broke, but the creep still whines about his legacy! I figure that all of us could give him one hell of a legacy. Yep, it's mind-numbing.
