Born-Again Fascism

Fascist movements dominated Europe from 1919 to 1944.

THEN……Hitler rose to power on the wings of an angel. A “devout God-fearing man” emerged in his autobiography, Mein Kampf. A good Christian, he was careful to mention “the Lord” and “the Almighty” quite often. Jesus was lauded as “the great founder of a new doctrine.” “I am fighting for the work of the Lord”, claimed Herr Hitler, who was soon after voted Fuhrer by German “people of faith.” The Fuhrer began immediately to “fight for the work of the Lord” against the Jewish population of Europe and anyone else who didn’t fit in his divine fantasy.

Religion and Government are Intertwined…….Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. They attach themselves to the predominant religion and portray themselves as defenders of that religion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders. Propaganda keeps “the defenders of the faith” and “the opponents of the godless” images before public while any opposition to those in power is portrayed as an attack on religion.

NOW…….Evangelical Christian political organizations along with token defender of the faith, Tom DeLay, have stated that any opposition to Bush’s judicial choices by the Democrats is AGAINST PEOPLE OF FAITH.
