Hell, they look jest like liddle toys! Then there's depleted uranium - my well-rounded wonder weapon. It penetrates, it burns, and it is guaranteed to pollute the land, the water, and the people. They'll be sick fer generations!
Insurgents fought with George Washington and won the Revolutionary War here in America, but we got to change the meaning of the word a bit. Iraqi patriots who are defending their country from yer army, well, they're the bad guys. Every time they fight back - even a little, put it on the news how you have suppressed the insurgency fer freedom - no matter what ya do... say its fer freedom!
Now, we got ta give them troops a hate name for them insurgents. Let's see we already used "gooks" for the slant eyes in the Nam... How's about "hajjis"? It sounds kinda Abi Baba don't it? Oh and b'fore I forget, here's a little hate ditty to wash the brains of yer troops with. Help's 'em concentrate on the killin'...

I'm afraid to think about what Georgie Boy fantasized - the reality is frightening enough. What a sick little creep - five years of misery and death but pure profit for him and his buds. Good thing I know how to clip coupons, cook from scratch, and wash tin foil!

I agree with you that Bush has done the same thing for the Christians as Osama did for Islam. Both of these men had problems with their fathers and both were quite well off when they were young. They are similar in many ways.
Young people are beginning to see through all of the anger and the desire for control that drive dogmatic religions.
Yes, I'll take part in the Blogswarm. I was think of reposting one I wrote in '05 along this line and will add an up to date intro. I'll get it up tomorrow after I figure out all the Tech Stuff.

Good post. Our country didn't take long to go from a liberated colony to being the world's biggest colonizer. Undoubtedly King George III called the American rebels terrorists (or worse).
Great post, reminds me of a time when I paraphrased Puff The Magic Dragon while brainwashed and had everybody in my unit singing it:

Of course we all loved it, but then we were a twisted bunch, and I have to admit, it's hard for me to criticize it now, some 38 years later, even tho I now know it's bullshit. I guess when I think of it I remember a bunch of young guys trying to keep it together any way they could, I just don't know...

You've done your own Winter Soldier right here. That's a hard thing to do. Wow.
I've been doing a lot of reading about brainwashing and troop training.
WWII and Korean Vets did not have as high of kill rates as did the Vietnam vets and the vets from this current war. The former two were more likely to shoot into the air and kill only if absolutely necessary. The training was changed during the Nam war and continued into the current war. The kill rates are much higher and reflect the changes.
Songs and Chants about killing were used and encouraged. Hate labels were applied to targeted, dehumanized people. They used psychologists to perfect these and other techniques.
Peer pressure and comradeship were and still are exploited so a soldier, long after he or she questions the reasons given for the conflict, will continue to fight for the others in the squad or platoon. The last three chapters of "Defying Hitler" explains it well.
You were a kid and you were deliberately manipulated to think and do as you did while American corporations made buku bucks providing all the weapons, gear, and accessories needed to continue that unnecessary conflict.
Of course you loved singing Puff - its like whistling in the dark.
You know, it kind of surprised me the way the words just fell out of my head, like it was only yesterday. Something in your post must have triggered my memory.

burn the village....etc is an extremely motivating cadence that we like to sing in the Corps. though it's a little weak, we have better ones though that incorporate eating babies and raping grandma's now, mucho better haha
I was there before and after the war. It is a 1000 times better than it was before, however you feel about war and understand the distast.
